use the google labs feature that: "Hides the unread counts for inbox, labels, etc." http://mail.google.com/mail/#settings/labs . I'll evaluate whether it changes my inbox sniffing behavior. I'm still using the '"You click, it sticks" email rule' (http://edison.thinktrylearn.com/experiments/show/47) using my Mac Gmail desktop widget (http://matthewcornell.org/2009/08/control-your-email-addiction-checking-more-often.html), which continues to help a lot. |
