Vacation in Maine -- Bear Country, Stephen King and Cone Heads,

1

What will you do?

Going on vacation to a small family cabin in the woods, only cold water. Apparently, there are people who have cone heads (no joke) living in the area. The lake may be full of leeches.
Vacations are usually really hard for me, especially if I don't have internet (tbd) so trying to think of this positively.

2

How will you test your idea and measure success?

If I can relax and not check email every 5 minutes. If I can enjoy the time off, and not be thinking of ten reasons to leave early. Watch my family and enjoy their company.

3

How will you know you are done?

4

How will you enjoy the journey?

Plan to go at it with a smile. Try to listen more, think of fun games to play with family, be open to new things. Think of the adventure.

Lizzy Prepared foods at home, rather than waiting until we arrived, so we would have food ready to go. Prep cooking in volume is such a good thing.

Lizzy Arrived tonight and its beautiful. The lake is clear, clean and lovely. The cabin is adorable. No bears yet. But apparently there are moose.

Lizzy I am doing amazingly well on this vacation. We only have cold water (which is actually fine since we've had a heat wave -- in fact, why do we even use hot water in the summer in this culture?

On a funny note: went outside to wash up with a pot of water (1800's style) and forgot we have neighbors. Oops. Dinner and a show.

Dan Owen I live in Portland and work part of each week in Bar Harbor, Liza. Sorry about this heat, but the non-stop rain in May, June, and July was worse!

Lizzy Hi Dan -- funny we are neighbors this week! You are lucky to live in such a wonderful area! Heat has been okay actually so the cold lake is just perfect.

Lizzy On the drive back I decided we could stop as often as we wanted to make the drive fun. This worked great and made the drive fun. We stopped once for coffee, a lottery ticket and ice cream. We stopped again to play miniature golf. When the focus is on the journey it can be really sweet.
