I want the coffee shop atmosphere, but 1) it's expensive, and 2) I'm kind of a homebody. So: I'll use noise-canceling headphones + coffee shop ambient sound to create a virtual coffee shop at home.

See if it keeps me focused, and cuts out extraneous sounds at home. |

Matthew Cornell I've been doing this for the last few days, and I like it. surprise: The ritual of getting the headphones and iPhone set up is comforting, and gets me into the flow. I guess the coffee shop process did something similar. Added benefit: My older iPhone doesn't support multitasking, which means that to check my email I must quit Ambience, which is a disincentive.

Brock Tice Why did you stop?

Matthew Cornell Sorry, stopped doing it because it wasn't adding to my focus, and I felt a little isolated doing it. Thanks for asking, Brock.
