What will you do?

submit application for the July award

2

How will you test your idea and measure success?

Writing something I'm happy with and submitting it in time, and that we can repurpose. Crazy success: I hear back at all. Even a rejection is valuable as it's a possible excuse to have a conversation with someone on the (high-powered) board. :-)

3

How will you know you are done?

Whether it's submitted!

4

How will you enjoy the journey?

Being creative, enjoying writing a story, feeling of satisfaction with having completed a piece I'm proud of.

Matthew Cornell Felt good submitting it. Happy with what I wrote. Curious about what kind of response I get (if any). Tweeted it just to create some energy. We'll see!

Matthew Cornell OK, this is funny. They announced the winner, and it's someone who wants to build a big hammock! I guess there was more of a non-computer design angle. Ha! Surprising result. More info, FYI:

Matthew Cornell 1. Is this strictly a design competition, or is our TTL vision a possibility? 2. Some artist friends said it's always hard to predict what a committee will select. 3. I now think I should have attended the awards ceremony. Great networking and fun. Next time. (I realized I had a chip on my shoulder. That's been pretty much removed now ;-) 4. I will re-apply

Matthew Cornell Just for personal entertainment value, I re-submitted. Here's what won: a Cotton Candy Cannon. As the blog post says, "This is huge, people. Absolutely huge." If not bitter, I'm certainly feeling contempt. This is not a Useful Attitude, however. I need to realize that my expectations for what they want don't match the reality. There - done!

P.S. I believe Think, Try, Learn has more potential to change the world than the cannon, though I might be wrong on this ;-)
