Try Evening Primrose Oil for Omega-6 to improve Dry Hair

1

What will you do?

Try supplement of Evening Primrose Oil to get more Omega-6 in my diet. I have read this is especially good for Hypothyroid people like me. In particular for hair texture, and growth. Mary Shomon wrote about it, and she is one of the Hypothyroid patient experts so giving it a try.

2

How will you test your idea and measure success?

Will take 2 pills a day (1300 mg each) for 2 months. Watch to see if hair texture, loss, new growth, thickness and dryness improve.

3

How will you know you are done?

If above side effects improve.

4

How will you enjoy the journey?

As best I can tell, taking the oil won't hurt. And Omega-3s are very much needed. So I think this one is fairly risk free. I will try not to worry too much about the expense, because dang all these supplements cost a lot.

Lizzy So far no bad side affects. It may be too early to know if its helping. But the texture of my hair seems to be softer, less dry.

Lizzy I've been taking Evening Primrose Oil for 10 days now. 1300 mg 2 times a day. Supposedly I should see hair, skin nail improvements within two weeks, but so far my hair still seems very dry. I guess the only thing I am seeing is that my hair hasn't gotten worse, so hopefully I have at least stopped the downward spiral. And hoping in another a few days I will start to see a difference.

Lizzy Still taking EPO and it seems to be helping. New hair growth seems healthier. Overall my hair seems less dry and brittle.

Lizzy Thanks :-) The EPO and Fish Oil seem to be working well. It will take a few months to really see a difference.

Lizzy This continues to work well, and helps with new hair growth and split ends. It's just slow going!
